Help please,
Have fitted a 300Tdi engine to my old Land Rover
Engine had done 78,000 miles and was running fine before being taken out of a Discovery after rear end shunt.
Have taken off the EGR
Engine starts but clouds of blue smoke on tick-over
If I rev to max for a few seconds all smoke clears and engine runs fine with no emissions.
Back to tick over and after a few seconds smokes again.
Smokes badly on half throttle
General view is massive overfuelling
Undriveable in present condition
What have I done wrong ?
Any advice greatly appreciated
Phil

You have fitted the Intercooler I take it? Did you clean the intercooler before fitting it? What's the oil level like?

Blue smoke or black? blue usually means it's burning oil, black would likely be over-fueling. Is the turbo spinning up ok?
I would start with the things you've touched if it was ok in the disco donor.

Hi,

Thanks for the info,
Turbo is spinning ok
Smoke is a blue/black mixture
No oil loss from engine as far as I can tell
Has improved a bit with running engine. Top revs is clear and runs fine
Only when foot off a bit that the smoke/misfire starts.

No doubt will get it sorted

Thanks again
