Hi All,

I am offering for sale the 300tdi engine from my "donor" defender. I'm building up a v8 110, so I have no need of the 300tdi engine itself. 72,000 ish miles.... with a story

I bought the vehicle with no paperwork, but when I got it home I called the faded sign-written number on the side of the door. After a couple of days of waiting, a chap from Devon called me back to tell me that it used to belong to him, as an environment agency sub-contractor (addler and allen).

This chap sold to trader on around 265,000 miles about 8 months before I bought it. He owned it for 6 years in total, and had it from it's original (to him) 90,000 ish miles to the selling mileage.

When I purchased the landy it was on 272,000 miles...

BUT....

Wait for it....

A brand new engine was fitted at 200,000 miles - direct from LR!!!!

I can see that the EGR stuff is still in place on the engine, and the outer condition would seem to verify the mileage. Obviously I have no proof for a prospective seller, but I have no reason to doubt this chap - he wasn't making any money out of this info. Faultless drive from devon back to hampshire/surrey border.. and a faultless 2 weeks pootling around on my temp insurance before I took it off the road last month.

Engine is still in vehicle.... Vehicle has no axles.... :)

Located (for the next 4 - 6 weeks) In Farnborough, Hampshire.

You'll be lucky!!!
I was going to make you a sensible offer just now but after seeing that think I'll buy a whole disco take the lump out and scrap the rest!

i thought i over paid at £200 for a 100k engine. another £400 for 28,000 less miles is way over my budget for a spare engine

Ok, I'm still considering my options, might still go with a recon engine.
I'm surprised no one has taken it off you yet....

Probably timing and/or location issues... You've got to be near to the person that needs at engine at the right time... If it goes before the house move though, I'll be happy.

more likely price. you can still buy disco scrappers for 500 or so. buy one, pull engine, flog a few bits and scrap rest and you usually break even

think it's about 50quid to pallet an engine

Apologies for going off radar for a while. Engine is now removed from landy, and is on an engine stand in the garage.

500 quid collected.

Any takers?
