Yeah, I’m having the same issue. In addition to the leakage from the mini air filter, there’s also smoke coming out of it.

I was thinking of modifying it to have two mini air filters, but after seeing your post, I’m considering trying your setup instead.

When I first owned the car it used to snot up the air filter with gunk from the breather pipe, I was thinking oh oh k motor has had it, so I got one of them oil catch tanks, total waste of money in that small size.
I binned the catch tank and have ran the open pipe for over 10 years now.
