300TDi and Tractor engine oil.

Been a while since ive been on, but hey here i am. I know this has been covered before, but im no expert on the ins and outs of oil. We have a farm and have 15w30 oil for the tractors, will this be fine in my 300TDi? I know the oils of good enough quality and that i would usually put either 10w40 or 15w40 in. Just wondered if the 30 bit is ok, my uncle uses 15w30 in his race bike but i don't think my 300 revs quite that high!!!

Yes it will be absolutely fine.
IMHO it's the bestest oil yer kin git fer yer Landy, but plenty of numptys believe the marketing hype and feel good about paying stoopid prices for synthetic crap.

We put synthetic in all our fleet and it ran right through them, mobil !!, engines cant burn it but by fook they dont half leak it, cant say I noticed much difference when cleaning the spinners either.

It seemed to work in the gearboxes and axles, but so did the mineral, with the exception it stays in forever, but ten times the price.

I think a good semi is the way, or the tractor stuff as you say.

oil explained.

the numbers mean the oils viscosity limits, the first one is cold , the w means winter.
the next one is the oils viscosity at 100 dagrees.

15w 30
its thick when cold and runny when hot.

10w 40
its better when cold and thicker when hot.

so , basically , 15w 30 will be too thick when cold and too thin when hot if the recommended oil is 10w 40 for your engine. its always best to use factory spec oils.
