Sorry,I know its a no-brainer but air going past the injectors can cause white smoke

My 200TDi had clouds of white smoke for a while on startup. It turned out to be a worn key on the crankshaft pulley, which was putting the injector timing out. Cured by welding the pulley on.

sold it years ago. Solved the problem though! Not sure how else to solve it - would have needed a new crankshaft, I guess.

Thanks for the help everyone the discovery is running like a dream 
Seems blocking the e.g.r of has made all the difference
She is running sweet now doesnt sound restricted and all that smoke is going very happy
Couldnt have done it without you all helping thanks again
