300 TDI white smoke on start up

My 200TDi had clouds of white smoke for a while on startup. It turned out to be a worn key on the crankshaft pulley, which was putting the injector timing out. Cured by welding the pulley on.
 
Thanks for the help everyone the discovery is running like a dream :D

Seems blocking the e.g.r of has made all the difference

She is running sweet now doesnt sound restricted and all that smoke is going very happy
