300 tdi viscous fan

Makes sense, probably isn’t that then. Will still get new viscous unit though to prevent any issues.

Ok but only purchased an OEM item.
But just watching the rotation of the fan you will see if the bearing is iffy, along with the knock the fan won’t spin true, there will be a ‘ wobble ‘.
When cold the fan will spin by hand but only a one blade at a time as the viscous fluid hasn’t past into the second chamber of the coupling, the wonders of the WWW for that information. Once the engine is warm the fan will spin easy and then lock up when the temps require it to be so.
The sound the fan makes, cold, warm and hot,.will be an indication of what’s what...
