hello

wonder if anybody can help! i have recently had my timing belt changed on my 300tdi range rover and in the last 240 miles have had to have three new timing cover seals as they keep working loose and casueing an oil leak, we have tried genuine and non genuine seals, the last seal was a genuine lany one and only lasted half and hour. The bits were all fitted by a qualified land rover mechanic so if anybody can help it would be great:confused:

the timing cover gasket is not a oil gasket, do u mean the camshaft or crankshaft seal? thats if the engine is like the 300tdi in a disco 1

thanks for your help but i think iv'e cracked it! I went to anther landy place for a new seal and thye said if the crank pulley is torqued up too much it will pull the seal out, i then rang my local landy dealer and got the correct torque of 80Nm the chap that did the job for me had been troquing it up to nearly 300Nm, came home fitted seal torqued to landy spec and shes a beauty!! no leaks at the mo, also dear wife found a 300 tdi overhaul manual on the net so ill do the jobs myself from now on!!:) :)

good man i believe the tdi 200 is the one that needs the high torque settings...i had a garage tell me once that number 5 injector needed changing on my tdi 200 once his face dropped when i told him it was a 4 pot engine with only 4 injectors...:D
