300 tdi safari roof rack

I hope this is in the right place
i'm looking for a safari roof rack and have found one
for my disco 1 .They will fit it free and have the option
of roof lights at extra cost, are they worth fitting ??
Will l need to drill a hole in the roof for cables ??
also on the lookout for a rear ladder and rear step and A bar
with lights.
The safari rack will be a low profile as l have no roof bars or
sun roof will my mpg suffer??

putting a roof rack on will slightly reduce mpg really made worse by putting massive lights on the front of it - but you bought a landy so i should think mpg isnt top priority

I had mine made by Foley, additional brackets wherever you want them, galvanized and fitted for just over £500.

Dont put much up there, as you will end up with bent gutters if you drive on corrugated roads, as it does not have the load spreading bar mountings , just standard type feet. JMHE

As its a custom rack, could you not ask them to make the feet wider / more load spreading?

Depending on your usage, I would not get roof lights for overland use. you could get away with running cables through door seals instead of drilling holes if you did go down this route.
