Success ! Ive managed to move the nut and get the penny in. No more squeeks ! Not even a chirp! Thanks to Ratty and special thanks to uncle Charlesy for having such a good sense of humour .Bet your a bag of laughs.[you can check me spellings now] :D

Well done Danny!
I bet it came loose with a crack!
It's always a fair plan to take a nut right off and apply some coppergrease .... because there will be a next time, and you might still be the guy on the other end of the spanner!

If we can't have a laugh once in a while we should flog our Landies and buy Fords. People who have to drive Fords don't have a lot to laugh about.

But at day school they certainly taught me where to place the apostrophe in the "it's" for "it is" and none in the possessive "its", and to have a space after a full stop, and a question mark at the end of an inquisitive sentence. Perhaps English isn't your first language.

I have been trying today to replace the drive belt on my 300tdi non aircon, I have been on it for about 2-3 hours today with not success.

The old belt had snapped so that was easy to remove, I have the correct belt and fed it around the pulley correctly, all except one.

How the hell do you lift the tensioner which wants to go back and fit the belt over the last pulley at the same time, the belt always seem to be about 10mm away from the edge of the last pulley.

Which is the best pulley to leave last, at present I have chosen the alternator, as the others the spanner seems to be in the way. A garage said it may be easier to remove the alternator and re-fit it with the belt on, i can see myself cross threading a lot if I do that.

Any ideas

Nigel
