hi all! :)

new to the forum....
own 1998 discovery, needs clutch/bearing. Is this a ok diy job?
looks complicated in manual, did cylinder head gasket 2000 mile ago, i did this myself, so quite diy competent.
hope you can advise and hold the snow for awhile....! :(

Yeah it can be done on yer drive but would be a pain moving the gearbox out of the way may be easier to take the engine out an do it that way if you have access to an engine crane :D

not to bad to do plus stick HD clutch fork in as you go (regret if you dont). two schools on method depends on what facilitys you got . personaly I go under and drop box , but some prefer engine out way

its heavy. specially when yer on the floor, laid on yer back tryin to balance it on a jack and shove it on / off.
i use the easy way now.
hope you visited the introduce yourself section......!

Only have limited tools.....no engine crane, just man power lol :)
Not worried about weight of the gearbox, its just stripping everything around it, looks complicated

Thanks for the reply.

Nah it's simple enough, transmission tunnel off slave cylinder pipe off, props off bolts around the bell housing off, slide back and down

thanks for the replies all.
Thinking of starting the job tomorrow...sorry not introduced myself yet, busy thinking of clutch worries.
Lost clutch on way from work still have good clutch pedal and doesn't slip when crashing box, so was thinking release bearing and some confidence to do it myself.

Thanks again
