I have a 1995 11 defender 300TDi, from cold start the engine tempreture dial doesn't rise for about 15 miles or 5 miles of motorway, is this normal or is there a fault to be found?

thanks

Rob

*snigger*

it's a reasonable question (and no attitude yet) so...
the 200 and 300tdi engines are designed to work in extreme desert temperatures so are very over-cooled in UK. I would check the engine thermostat (might as well just change it anyway they're cheap enough) and you can also remove the viscous fan from the engine and run without (I do on my 200tdi) and this would help with warming up.

ye back to topic for a min:D

mines fairly good at warming up couple of mile and shes at dead centre on the gauge and i still have the horrid viscious fan, wan2 remove just dont seem right  i no they run fine without but....:p

thought i'd give him a chance to play nice.
if he's only young and got the landy to do up and wants to learn about it then i'm sure he'll get help (along with a bit of **** taking)

mine's in the back just in case;) you can put them back on by hand and the way the engine rotates/left hand thread tightens up. not had to put mine back on yet:D
