3 door roof bars added to a 5 door

Has anyone ever add three door roof bars to a five door with roof bars?
I say added and not replaced.
Add to/join to the roof bars on a five door.
can three door roof bars be fixed to the back of a five door?

As that's on an English plate and RHD - I presume its not Baptista's - but very very nice rails. Agreed, the rear spoiler it pretty good - front's a bit naff.

ooooh, what's needed to make them fit?

Welded to the 5 door items, or bolted on additionally to the roof?

Looking at that I'd say the front section has been extended, there's no middle support as the 5 door usually has and the front section is straight where the 3 door part is curved slightly. The rear mounts are higher than usual too, on a 3 door they are directly above the light cluster.

If I was doing that I'd cut n shut both versions together, keeping the middle support for extra strength, and some stiffener plates with captive nuts welded in the rear.

Nice though, shame it can't be done so "easily" for extending the 3 door.

Yeap, it ain't mine...
It looks like the front part of the rails from a 3 door were welded to the back end of the rails from a 5 door, I guess it could use an additional fixation point (maybe where the rear of the 5 door rails would sit on the roof). The rear mounts are higher than usual so that the rails pass the "hump" on the roof and level with the front part.

I like it that the rails "wrap" around the back and come all the way to the front, the existing rails, either 3 or 5 door ones, only cover half the length of the roof.

Christ Almighty - that is properly horrific. So those rails are supported at the front and at the lower rear mounts? how much weight is he planning on putting on them?
Still, to go along with his incredibly useless rails, he has the worlds least useful ladder too. I think even Stretch Armstrong would have problems reaching that first step, plus he would only be able to get a couple of toes onto the first two rungs as they are so close to the wheel.
As for the light pods, the decals and the checkerplate.....some people need to step away from the accessories catalogue! I count nine visible Land Rover badges and logos in one photograph!
Seriously, those light pods look like some of the gopping horrors from an `80s or `90s RGM fibreglass catalogue usually full of similar tat for mkII Astras and Sierras.

don't know about the bars across the back window. having to drop the window to open the door could become a pain.

Not clear from the photos, but surely the bars use both the 5 door rail mounts and the rear pillar - so supported in 3 places each side.

Loads of ladders like that around - and yeh - useless, and looks rediculous because of it.

I agree 'pods' are basically pathetic addons - even on the Camel Freelanders they look naff. For some reason though I like that rear one. I think I'd have 1 central brake light though and a general light each side - to help me when I'm setting/packing up after fishing and its dark.

thought about it, but this way I can lock the car and leave the back window open in the summer and not worrying about having stuff stolen from inside,
also works as dog guard, although I don't have a dog...

the lightpod is just like the ones fitted on the Freelander for Camel Trophy 1998

Bearmach used to import these from DAP Enterprises, don't know how the rear part is secured though.
