I have a 90 with a disco 3.5 v8 on carbs, i want to know which colour/type of coolant i need and a percentage of coolant to water because of the upcomming winter months

My old 3.5 RR was on a 50/50 mix using Rovers green/yellow antifreeze for the 10 years I had it, changed every 2 years.

Now my disco's first 7 years it was on the Rovers antifreeze 50/50 as it was serviced by LR, but from then on it's been DIY so it's on the red OAT antifreeze, I use 5 litres so not quite a 50/50 mix but ok down to -25+ deg and it's only changed every 5 years, that's why I use it. :D

just dont make the mistake i did, i had about a 90% (not my fault previous owner was a tit) mix just over 2 years ago when we had that harsh winter, long story short got cold, water froze and expanded in my water pump, forcing it away from the timing case.
i didnt know this at the time, started it (some how) drove up the road to pick up a friend, got back to my house and dropped the entire contents of my cooling system as steam as soon as i stopped.
there's nothing more fun than trying to fit a new water pump in sub zero temps.

Now i try to mix it at least a 50/50, think im running the red (5 year) solution at the moment.

Live and lean my friend, once upon at a time my heater started to get colder and then the car started to slow down and then the engine stopped, all because of the incorrect antifreeze ratio.
My girlfrend was not impressed.

Before the days of the Disco:D

was just watching Wheeler dealers on Discovery and they had some new coolant on there.
it's completely waterless and good from -40 through to 180 degrees C.
they said it costs about £90 to buy the cleaner and the solution but because it has No water, it never needs to be changed because it doesn't rust out anything, you can even remove the radiator cap while running without steaming yourself cause of the lack of water.
I need to find some of this i thinks.

I think my waterpump is leaking just come back from a rebuild and is ****ing water from somewhere in that area
