Check it with the live data, when on watch the readings while turning the steering wheel from left to the right and watch for any drop out or twitching/freezing of the numbers. The connection also. ;)

swapped steering angle sensor mate but still no readings from left to right,
Car won’t let me code new sas to car due to faults still being loaded on ecus any ideas what to do now?

@browneyboy1
hi there fella , did you get anywhere with the sas fault, and get eas calibrated in the end?
what daignostics have you got.

Hiya mate,
Not really fella I’ve got rid of the steering angle sensor ecu internal fault code,
Tried to re calibrate it says it is but then says it couldn’t clear all faults so don’t know if it actually calibrates it or not I’ve tried Autel maxicomMk808bt mate and autel maxisys.
Don’t know where to go from here mate it’s becoming annightmare

The autels are great pieces of kit but can be a bit weak on the LR.
You will need something more specific.
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/diagnostic-tool.351240/ there are some recommendations on this thread. ;)
Thanks mate a fair few are saying about a gap diagnostics tool so might give one of them ago, just annoying because if memory serves me well the autel sys one was about £1700 when I bought it so should really be up to the job ☹️

@brownboy1
hi there, it is a pain when you think you are getting somewhere then , its back to square one.. or worse,
ive been through the wars and im still battlin..
@kds is a good guy to ask ( tell him i recommended you ) because we've had the same issues, only hes fixed his one..
im going down the inpa route to try and get somewhere.. but in typical dwarfer style is stopped before we even got going.. the inpa lead is useless and will not communicate with anything, so back in touch with mr wong from ebay... lets see how long this takes ..
but your autel system is a gooden' and should...... But saying that i went to an idependent guy before i started looking into this and he used a blue autologic diagnostic tool , he tried three times and turned my car from out on one corner to lower all round.. then lower again.. then lower still ! wtf. it was in perm access mode.. either he didnt know what he was doing/ or machine fault or its just my luck.
then i started really taking an interest and found that you can have info showing from sensors on the scanner but it isnt being received fully, then wiring issues to eas sensors showing small corrosion, then bent eas brackets ! yep that will mess it up, steering geometry out causes a head ache..wires a chafing, not had that one yet! and hard faults in perculiar places that wont go away.. then when you try and calibrate it goes no where, then just at the point of madness you change out the foxwell scanner that is showing a hard fault ( wont erase) then connect a icarsoft lrv2,0 and scan it and then erase faults, and the fault goes away and hasnt come back, allowing me to at least calibrate the car and bring it down a bit !
scan everything and see whats lurking..check every ecu..keep battery charger plugged in and doors shut etc..
i put up some pics under eas woes... bloody hell at one point mine was sitting at 820 mm , now its 770 and reasonable flat, so trying the inpa route, but its got other ideas.. cursed? christine??

@dwarfer
It’s funny you
Say about the steering geometry out I had all the problems well before but I have recently changed all front suspension arms and not yet had any ofit aligned I wonder if it’s out somewhere and playing funny buggers with some sort of readings.

can’t wait for the day I get it all back up and working again joys of landys aye

@browneyboy1
oh yeah, they are funny alright;)
i had some other work on so had no chance to get to grips with mine,
but seller wants to give a partial refund for the cable.. hmm jurys still out there.
heres the thing, in the begining...car was ok ish a little low on osf and a wee bit low nsr, but it wasnt until i tried fixing things with new parts that it all started going wrong, and boy they can really go wrong.
one thing i did notice was during the time i was driving it, prior to the front air bag bursting..i thought it drove awful.. choppy ride, it felt all wobbly in a straight line , now the new bits, all sensors and matching pair of front legs,it does drive infinitely better, all be it still way to high ( 770 ish)
ive seen people fitting lower arms and upper arms on vehicles, then all bolts tightened up with the suspension dangling down, then when the vehicle is put back on the floor it sits too high, then after a while it settles, but then the compliance bushes are ripped to bits !
honestly the things ive have seen in the trade over my years there,
and one of the worst things i ever saw was at ROLLS ROYCE GOODWOOD PLANT, im 6 miles away from it and worked there before going back into aero, unless you saw it you would not believe it.
have you got access to another diagnostic tool, i know snap on solus edge can do it, but others had a different experience, but again you never really know if all the bases are covered and it is fault free, i guess you have to be there first hand.
keep at it, i will not be beaten:)

@dwarfer nor will I mate nor will I,
only got access to another autel at the minute mate but once pandemic is over “probably be a while still yet”
Then I’ll book it in a my local Land Rover specialists and see what they come back with!!

mine also seems to sit about 765-770mm to, wonder if ifs coincedence or if we have the same sort of faults!!

dlightly off topic under the bonnet go the right there is a little filter connected to a black silicone hose one end I assume it’s a breather of some sort now question what for as I keep changing it as it’s getting covered in oil internally on one side
Is this normal thanks kai

hi there
re breather under the bonnet, rhs with one pipe on one end only, is a gearbox breather standard... but i am not sure about oil in it, might be time for a gearbox oil n filter change, measure what amount of oil comes out though and see if it was over filled maybe.
make sure you check out the crank case breather in the top of the rocker box if not already done, factory fit was a blue/white toilet roll tube style fibre breather, that can block and cause big problems, or gets replaced with the plastic vortex style that doesnt need replacing
if not already done do gearbox n filter is a must
re my heights... i now seem to have managed to get inpa diagnostic tools downloaded on the old laptop , with the help of @kds big thank you:)
weather permitting i will try and set my eas and calibrate tomorrow
re your heights it it possible it had bigger wheels in the past and had been played with, or just one of those things..:rolleyes:
mine has come down to the current heights..:D

And with a bit of luck from the Range Rover gods and a following wind it just might be lower still tomorrow.

@dwarfer

quiet possibly mate it’s due a service as it was rebuild about 2000 miles ago and they said to bring it back in a few thousand to get it serviced after completely destroying its self catastrophically, better get it done soon,,
I’ve got the upgraded breather cyclone thing done mate but Thankyou car also is down abit on power a few people who have driven it have said however I’ve never known any different so don’t actually know if it is or not feels ok to me??

as for wheels mate I think it’s actually got smaller wheels on that original? As got 19’s on atm but original spare in boot all assuming it is original is 20” so assume above is correct I think someone has changed to 19’s at some point both are genuine Land Rover tho so hard to tell which way round it is,

if you have luck with inpa tool I will get one mate!
GOOD LUCK keep me informed mate

@dwarfer how did you get on with you’re diagnostics mate?? I’m still getting canbus 32 fault stored in air suspension

also steering angle sensor initialisation stored under abs!

can’t get rid of either and not sure why canbus fault 32 is showing so will have to put another diagnostics machine but was wondering how you got on with one u got mate!

@browneyboy1
well, heres the latest
as of yesterday i had inpa inputted a few times and got the car to be 750 r 760 f ish with in a couple of mm, but always after a road test it would settle higher
both me and @kds are still trying to get to the bottom of this
then yesterday after 23 trouble free miles i get eas inactive come up on my dash, it were cold n wet and dark so didnt look at it , so thats a today job, and will be reporting back...
but 23 miles eh eh, thats good isnt it , thats reliability!
beat that
