Hello
As way of intrudocution - Midlife crisis age, came to the UK 3y ago from Belgium, got a LR D3 (as totally unafordable in Be) and enjoying it greatly. Took it greenlaning/camping with the family. Had great fun and want to do this more often (but think my joy and pride LR D3 is a bit expensive) and have my mind set on a 300TDI 110.
Visiting this side on a regular basis with great interest as such a great forum.

Hesitated long time before posting question as I'll expect the - "use the search button"- answer. (edit) which I did to great extend on several sites but could not find the answer.

but here it goes:

Getting an 11 and 14y along is not easy. Know not to expect "comfort" in a defender but would like to create some space in the second row by installing individual seats and more leg room by moving the seats backwards.

Anyone has experience with this and could share some tips and tricks (pictures ?).
Some things that spring to mind - would this work with some Exmoor elite or Cobra/Crobeau seats.
What about seat belts; would harness seatbelts bolted in the floor do the trick and would it be acceptable for MOT and Insurance.
How would this vehicle than be clasified - coming from a 9-12 seater to a 4-seater.

Any other thoughts or expected obsacles?

I got someone on the phone at "twistedperformance" saying they were looking into making such vehicle but never got back to me.

Many thanks in advance
Koen

My 110 csw is an ex electricity board special vehicles build. It came with just 2 low back seats in the second row and there was/is a low level cubby box where the middle seat is. One day when I get around to it I'll build a taller cabinet there but for now I store spare parts in the cubby box and use the flat surface on top as a table. I've changed the second row seats to high back seats to make them more comfortable. If you want more leg room without actually moving the seats back you can (either make yourself or buy from exmoor trim) fit some brackets that allow just the seat back to locate further back meaning that the persons sat in it sit further and therefore have more legroom. Unfortunately I can't do this to mine without having to re-sculpt the whole rear tub as I have a solid bulkhead behind the second row seats and have wooden chests and partitions in the load area. If I didn't have these I would have modified my seat brackets.:(

You can also get reclining kits too.

Second Row

Get rid of the 2nd row and load area seats and buy 2 exmoor forward facing seats, the dear ones with 3 point harnesses. Two types, early ones and late ones that Would provide different locations. Mount them towards the front of the rear tub giving loads of space.
