Ok people, I'm in the process of gutting and re-building the inside of my 300tdi 90, the standard seats are going to be replaced with buckets, which means I'll need to move the battery to an accessable location, so my first question is where have people located theres, was it the right location after some usage? I am at the same time going to wire in a 2nd battery to run my other toys, can anyone reccomend a good split chrage system that wont break the bank? What spec of battery should I be looking for, the same as my main battery or different?
 
fab some frames up like the old seat bases so they can still be removed easily done and saves you moving batteries around etc
 
I was under the impression that you couldn't get access to the batteries once the buckets runners were in? Do you have to unbolt the seat the take the whole seat out for access?
 
ignore the carpet it aint there anymore...but i made up a rear bracket and the fronts are bolted down but the bolts are captive and easily removed

that might be ok for a fridge or some lights..but if ya wanna start runnin winches you need a purpose made split charge system that will take the power draw that a winch will put on the split charge system..

i went thru 3 kits b4 i found one i was happy wiv
 
So the whole runner lifts out with the seat thus giving access to the old battery hatch? Are there no defender specific runners on the market that allow access to the battery?
 
on my recaro rs turbo seats i can lift the bottom cushion outs of both seats but on the passenger on i have swapped the springey seat base (the thing that the base cushion sits on) for a metal plate so the get the battery i dont have to remove the seat at all just the cusion and the plate :D
