2k painting mask?

Gota do a bit of painting, the base coat is fairly safe and the 3m filter which claims is safe short term for 2k will do for that but the 2k kind of puts me off and not keen on continuing with the 2k with the 3m filters.

You can hire a powered filter system full face claimed suitable for painting but not sure if they are any use for 2k.

Can also get an army mask with new filter but dont know if they would work, they work on biochemical but probably killl me if I spray 2k paint.

Cant get an air fed mask for hire.

Any views on this guys, I know some guys that use the 3m carbon filters, protecting their eyes and skin etc short term and occasional use but I'm not too sure.
 
i spray 2k paints alot, i use a air fed mask and all in one paint suite, as for the 3m fillers dont really worry about it ! i would if i was using it all day everyday tho
 
I've used the 3m filters to do 2 full 2k primer, base, clear coat paint jobs and found them to be very good, had the workshop so full i could hardly see (must remember to put the fan on!) and could still breathe clean tasting air ;)

Thats what I was thinking if you cant smell it it aint getting in.
 
ive sprayed a lot of 2k and plasticote paint for hederson shutter doors and that stuff is leathal but it smells nice when ya spraying it.
i aint ever worn a mask of any sort. cant say ive had any ill effects from it.

Fook working for henderson doors then, yur wullie is gona fall off:eek:
 
FOOOOOOOOOK that 2k paint gives off sianide fumes which builds up in your body and slowly kills you:crazy: also the paint gets right inside your lungs then sets and gradualy glogs them up but your right it does smell quite nice

Ordered up a paint suit, the mask is from a hire shop, a powered number with twin filters and full face, they tell me it works on all types of paint but its not air fed.

Not sure about gloves tho, told it has to be special ones.

I'm sure they used to spray that stuff with a normal mask at one time, probably all dead now tho.
