265/65/16 tyres on my Series... YES A BLOODY TYRE THREAD!

Just dropped the dead Disco off the 265/65/16 Discoverer STT tyres to photograph and eBay them and couldn't help drop one on the Series as I wheeled them past.

The Series isn't driveable at present, but, from sticking one 265/65/16 tyre on the front n/s axle... it doesn't look half bad.

I'm sure there are a million threads on tyre size for a series, and i thought 265/65/16 was too big for them, but, a quick look is making me think otherwise - once i have it running again i might give it a quick test on them and see how it is.

I imagine the steering will be (too) heavy and possibly even more loss of turning circle, but, who knows!

Yes, i profiled them against the current 7.5/16's which is why i dropped them on.

I guess the width is going to be the sticking point. I also quite like the thinness of 7.5/16's - give certain advantages in certain laning situations (they are also sometimes an issue)

we'll see... if i ever get there with fixing it!

I had 265/75's on the last series and they weren't too bad but then again I was just shifting it round on a gravel backyard so not really much resistance compared to tarmac

Not much worse than the disco really, 3 point turns were more 3 and a half or 4 but not really enough of a problem to be a nuisance

ah good... that would be a bonus then, saves me the hassle of buying some more 7.5's
