Hi guys ! Yeah, found out from the start that Honda CRV alloys fit the Freelander 1 - both have bolt pattern 114,3x5 ! I have 205/70R15 on them as recommended from the tire company . I have found new tires on Honda CRV rims, but they are 205/65R15 - can i run them or ? They will rotate quicker giving me in orre t kmph on the dash meter only or will it interfere with something else ? They'd be a smaller tyre so they may interfere with your speed-o-meter as long as you abide by any speed-o-meter regulations in your country as they can only be so far out, I use something like google maps to measure "real" speed when installing smaller or bigger wheels/tyres on my cars.

Be sure to check that all 4 are the exact same tyre brand size and tread depth and tire pressure(or the ones with more tread on the back) to avoid damage to the 4WD system if you have it installed.
 
Opffff ! That sounds risky - figured they will rotate quicker and affect the meter but little scary thinking about the 4WD etc - thanks for the reply 🍷😏
 
I can't imagine driving at motorway speeds will be much fun with the engine running 10% faster than it would with the correct size tyres fitted to the vehicle. The other consideration is that the load rating is equal to the factory spec, which for smaller tyres is normally less.

Another consideration is that smaller wheels might not fit the rear drums if it's a facelift version. The drums are a pretty unique size, which requires a wheel with a suitable offset to fit correctly. Remember that the PCD and center bore aren't the only considerations when fitting wheels from a different vehicle. ;)

I have Honda CRV rims for my winter tires - they're fine - its just the actual honda tires on are 65 were mine are 70 is the issue.... thanks ! 😏
 
I've just done the calculations. The 205/65/15 tyres are 25.49 inches in diameter, whereas the factory standard 215/65/16 are 27 inches in diameter, so the car will be effective ½ an inch or 20mm lower to the floor.

The height between a 65 % and 70 % is considerable. A 205/70/15 is 26.3 inches in height, so still less than the factory 27" size.
What's wrong with the factory size tyres?

No its just a complete set of 4 Honda CRV winter tires came up for sale, hardly used för 80 quid - would save me some £600 in total.....but the 65 is not gonna work....the tire company recommended me 70 as set as it is stated so. Shme they are 65 - would have been a great saving on wheels i could just put straight on my Freelander without need the tire company to switch them over to another bolt pattern rim 😏

Check the centre bore is the same too, if bigger on the Honda you can use a spigot ring to space it down. But if it is smaller the rims won't fit.

Any reason why you'd want CRV rims anyway? Seems a very odd choice. And tyres that small will make the Freelander look like it is on casters. I'm running 205/80R16's on our Freelander.

The Freelander 15" wheel size used a 195/80/15, which has a diameter of 27.3 inches. The 215/65/16 have a diameter of 27". The speedo is calibrated on a 28" tyre, so it'll remain on the correct side of inaccurate with all factory option tyre sizes. The car itself will take up to a 29" tyre, providing that width is kept to 235 and under, but the speedo will under read with this size of tyre.

Car came without winter tires and spiked tires didn't exist for the landy here - but Honda's fit and could get spiked winter tires - now i can get winter spikesbfor landy rims but inhave the old Honda ones which fit the bolt pattern etc and are cheaper even at recommended 205/70 - more accessible - saving 600 quid is a good reason ....if the tires were right, but they're not. Also , on ice and snow its better to have lower smaller or narrower tires
