Can you replace the 2.0 L motor in a 2013 LR2 with the 3.2L from a 2008 LR2? What would be needed to do so?

I have a 2008 LR2 in the U.S. that has some pretty bad body damage but run great. I found a 2013 LR2 with a blown motor but is in great shape otherwise and is very inexpensive. I’m trying to figure out if I could buy it and move my motor over to it from the 2008.

All sorts of problems. Computers, wiring harnesses... the list goes on. Not worth the hassle really. There's a lot to move over. Not just the engine and gearbox.

If you have all the donor parts from a vehicle its easier. But there was a lot of changes between early and late vehicles.

You essentially have a 2013 bodyshell (after you have removed everything) in which to install all the bits you can take off your 2008 car.

Even then, I bet there would be mountings that are different.

Sounds like more trouble than worth? I was hoping it would be something like moving the motor and ecm, maybe some wiring harness components, but was hoping some with be plug and play.

Well, the cigarette lighter thing might work ok

It's possible, but you'll need to swap everything over, as all the various modules are coded to each other, and there were loads of differences between a 2008 and 2013, for example, the 2013 has an electronic parking brake, but a 2008 has a mechanical parking brake.
It's a lot of work, but technically possible, but probably not worth the time investment. I could technically carry out such a conversion, but it wouldn't be financially beneficial. I'd just get a replacement 2.0L engine, and leave the rest of the vehicle as standard, then sell the 2008 to help towards the replacement engine cost.

Thank you for the additional input and perspective!
