Yep. They do take a fair bit of practice though. Even using a rake or similar they don't allow the immobiliser to be bypassed.

I know that you used to be able to nick X5's with a laptop because there was a diagnostic socket in the wheel arch. All you needed was the BMW software.
Anyway, if it's keyless entry and the keys were close to it, that's as good as not locking it. I think the keyless entry should only work within 10 feet and the car should stop if it gets out of range.

Key has to be within 1m of the required door handle. Post 10my RRS are also keyless start with no mechanical backup to override, therefore my thoughts are it must have been pinched with a key or on the back of a truck.
Unless the thief stole the key, got in, started it and then put the key back where he stole it from as once started it will run without the key present but will not restate once switched off.
Pretty robust in my opinion!

Post 10my you'd need the car to code via IDS, therefore you'd need to pre-order the key then have the car for 45 mins, plus LR will know what IDS licence coded the 3rd key.
Unlikely scenario.

hey. i have also had my range rover sport 2010 stolen. without the keys. it was driven from my drive. within 9 months of owning it. the police are investigating. but are trying to find a link with the dealer, or tracker company. they think that someone had made a copy to the key before they sold it to me.
an in order to catch them they need to find a link before. so we could use both our cases together an we could find a link let me know.

hi there hae been a few cases of people taking your visible vin number from your window screen then leaving the uk going to a land rover dealer over seas ie spain france ect telling them they are on holiday and they have lost the key to said vehical and getting a replacement then coming back to the uk and stealing your pride and joy this may be worth looking into after all they managed to steel david beckams range rover in this way
