My mate bought a 200 tdi a month or so ago, he said its flat and won't rev, it will rev but it takes a very long time to build up,

Checked the pump timing was slightly out so set correctly, now it won't rev at all..

Apparently thus engibe had just bin build and gas always bin like this, the injection pump is full of rust under the diphram so that's my Gess,

Anyone eles had this, could the idiot that built it timed the pump wrong then messed with the pump to try sort it?

Once timing is confirmed to be 100%.
Check lift pump is functioning as it should, replace fuel filter of not already done so.
Make sure no intercooler hoses have collapsed internally.

Tool all the pipe off the inlet and still very very slow to pick up, I have messed with the pump after we timed it up and I then got it to rev but won't idle, got it to idle again but won't rev, under the diaphragm if full of rust, I think the stroke limit pin may have stuck.

Have yo tried changing the fuel filter, I did mine just after I bought it and it worksed a treat. The injectior pumps are normally bomb proof. I would also suggest you put the pump timimg back to where it was originally

Well tonight we pulled it apart, had picked up a injector pump and lift pump from jonny at Yorkshire landrover breakers at canal road Bradford,

Fit injector pump, lift pump timing belt, timed it all up again, cleaned all the injector lines with the air line, rebuilt fit new fuel filter,

And guess what.

Goes like it should now, some one has tweeked the pump at a Guess as there's screw driver marks in the screws. Mates happy again was wanting to sell it last night
