Out the front, spanner in hand
LAds, just popped disco 200tdi in my lightweight, fits in but the turbo outlet is very close to the nearside inner wing (see pic) so i can't connect it up. Had a search but no-one else seems to have had trouble with a SWB series so not sure whats happend here. Whats my options here, can i turn the turbo so that the outlet is facing upwards? Or is a 300tdi manifold the right option,if so does the 200tdi turbo fit on it OK?
Cheers, Ad

Ok looks from other forums that clocking thje turbo so it points upwarsd is the answer, but HTF do i do it? Some folks saying theres a large circlip you have to remove but i can't see anything like that on mine. Anyone done it?

you can either remove the large circlip securing ali snail housing or lube circlip and tap housing round with a soft face hammer, i usually raise engine on the mounts an inch as well

Ok thanks guys, looks like i should have done this before putting the engine in dohhhh! Will try lubing and tapping otherwise it will have to be manifold and turbo off as theres not enough room to work on it now. I'll make up a spacer to lift the engine a bit as well. Getting to the drivers side engine mount top nut is a nightmare too, looks like a special cranked spanner is needed

take the exhaust manifold off then you can easily remove the snail from the turbo body to clock it and redrill/retap to refit the wastegate actuator

the 300tdi turbo has similar problems but is more complicated to clock
