200tdi power loss = help!!!

Whilst driving down the motorway the engine (200tdi Disco) lost power which then returned, it then lost power again and stopped. After it was towed to a service station, I checked under the bonnet for anything obvious, I started the engine, accelerated and decelerated through the rev range with no problems! All appeared o.k! So jumped in and drove it, whilst my friend followed me. After about 10 miles same thing happened again! - power loss leading to engine stoppage, the engine restarted every time after a short rest. I managed to get the Disco somewhere safe and opened the bonnet I then noticed that the back of the high pressure pump was wet (Diesel).
The tank was quarter full and has been taken past that point a few times, only difference I can think of compared to my other journey's is that the motorway is flat.

Sorry its a bit long winded but without all the info how can I get the right help!!! Thanks for reading and your help!

stating the obvious- look for the diesel leak and clean filter and sedimentor on disco

Yeah going to once I get it back, just wondered if it might of been anything else!

Also just to let you know found the problem on my V8, problem was the carb balance bar screw getting loose and the garage the MOT man adjusting the wrong carb = lean left, rich right bank correct emissions!

My money's on a failed lift pump, or if you are lucky, a partial fuel blockage somewhere, or maybe a sticky injection pump stop solenoid valve.

Start by cleaning the sedimeter, and changing your fuel filter,if you've got access to compressed air, blow your fuel pipes back towards the tank.

Next try bypassing your lift pump - short hose between inlet and outlet - if this improves things, your lift pumps knackered.
Once primed, the engine should be able to "pull fuel" from the tank to the injection pump OK and should run normally.

If all else fails, try connecting a diesel supply direct to the fuel pump. The engine should be able to run happily(once air purged).

Update-
Fuel pipes blown through, filter changed, sedimenter cleaned.
New lift pump fitted (as old one was weak/slow) all appears to be o.k!?!
Leak is from the little rubber nipple, believe (via search) this to be something to do with the boost diaphragm!
More work!!!
Seriously thinking of going 'old school' and getting a horse 'n' cart!!!
