Looking at the picture of the block, the two holes above the 3rd cylinder from the left seem to have a crack between them. Might just be a scratch mark but take a close look.

Col

Just been and had a look and it isn't a crack, I have just given it a quick wipe with some scotch bite
I wish it was so at least I would know why.

Well I have thrown caution to the wind as it were and got a replacement engine, well most of one.

I have dropped the head off the replacement and it will need stripping and cleaning but what has me confused is why anyone would use copper slip on the head bolts or have I missed a trick here?

Some people are in love with copaslip and will use it on everything and anything, I hate the crappy stuff, make everything messy for no good reason when ordinary grease will do just fine.

I cant remember if 200 head bolts are dry or lubed and I would hazard a guess thats what they have used it for.
