Anyone help me. 200tdi discovery engine in defender. Mate jumped started my truck put the red and blacks wrong way round I’m guessing it’s frazzled something. Went down the road turned my lights on cut my truck out. Doesn’t always do that. I checked the fuses inside the cab as that’s the only fuses on the truck ? I know discos have them in the engine bay.
 
You have either fried the battery & alternator (or both) by shorting out with the jump leads.
Have you got more than 12v at the battery?
Have you checked to see if the alternator is charging?
 
As above. Outdoor also have fried the starter motor. Friend did it to a Mini Cooper I had years ago. New battery, alternator & starter motor required

I know stupid friends just hope it’s not a wiring loom? As it starts if I jump start it but now and again when I turn the lights on it cuts out. Or when I turn the lights on the Speedo well my bokst gauge is Next the Speedo the light turns off.
 
Might be a silly question ige checked the battery In terms of there’s a little glass bit of green it’s fine. Which it is. Or is that irrelevant?
 
Have you got a multi meter & checked any voltage at the battery?
Check & get a reading,then start motor & raise the revs a bit. Your meter should rise,
These readings will help to show what is wrong

Yes, fingers crossed for you as these aren't too bad to repair/replace. There are loads of helpful videos on YouTube on how to identify the fault with a multimeter.

The starter motor can be difficult to get to on tdi :D so good luck

I change the battery over. It starts on the button now all lights don’t go dim when turning things on. It seems the battery was fried I got lucky. Ive got a new alternator coming as well just Incase as mine was 2nd hand anyway. Next Problem hand brake seems to be stuck on when pulling away. I try pulling away seems stuck so I don’t bother just incase j cause more problems

Glad to hear you've sorted it!
Mines gone wrong now haha. I cut some wiring to an old amplifier put in by the previous owner and now it won't start for some reason! I'll be busy trying to fix that tonight:rolleyes:
 
Another question so my trucks a defender 90 35 inch tyres it’s an off roader. With a discovery 200tdi engine. Obviously boost pin boost ring boost controller. I got to turn the pump up etc. How can I get more power though? What turbos fit ? Or just wondering if anyone has some good ideas to get it to move
