200tdi glow plug wiring

Does anyone have a photo of what the wiring for the glow plugs on a 200tdi should look?

I have lists of wire colours etc., but my truck has been so...modified... over the last 25 years that I have no idea if what I have is what should be there. There is one thick brown are to the rear-most plug, with yellow and black wires from one plug to another. That's it, so I suspect it's not quite right.

How do you know that they don't work?
What testing have you done?

A 200tdi should start just as easily without them, even in this cold spell within a couple of revolutions.
First step to test them is check for voltage at the yellow black wire after ignition is switched on (they will only come on for 5 secs or so), if that checks out then you need to remove them and check they glow
