Changed my headgasket as I was losing water somewhere. Now I've ran the truck up to temp with the new gasket I've noticed that it's blowing rather heavily, the more so the warmer it gets!

Id say it's more or less all steam... I left it running for 40 mins and it blew steam constant for all that time. More when revving faster....

I don't seem to be losing any water from the expansion tank at all.... The truck has been sat a couple of months. Could I have got water in the oil and it's steaming it off??

When you say sreaming i assume you mean out of the oil cap?
I have had a 200 do this, it turned out to be head gasket between a bore and an oil way pressurizing the rocker.
Are the valves seated correctly? how are the valve stem seals?
Is the head cracked? the only way is to pressure test it.
I have got a 200 head cheap if you need one

I took a couple bids. Lemme get one uploaded on the laptop and I'll show you. Didn't get the head skimmed or tested when swapping the gasket due to a couple things. 1 being I hadn't overheated the truck or lost power I was simply losing water and 2 lack of pennies.

Pm me what you want for the head as it might be worth having it and swapping it.

It steams from the breather pipe and the oil filler cap. Valve stems didn't seem too bad but I'm no expert mate.

what headgasket make did you get btw? a good elring/payen composite head gasket (one to go for) or did you get some random crappy or decided to fit a mls one?

did the code end in a G or say oem? and how much did it cost?

for the price, i'd try a decent gasket. might fix it.. and it's pretty cheap compared to everything else

about 14 quid and not sure on the code.

i'd have thought it would be an elring for that price.. you never know though. el cheapo britparts are like 7 quid.

wait a bit and see what others say (my sneaky vote is for bad gasket/cracked head) :)

oh and that youtube link is private

ok head back off then, ill pick up that head off you at some point not too far away, I need to get my rear winch from Mr D as well as thats been at his over a year and ive found a warn m8000 body i said he could have.

Will i need this head skimming as well?

Ill order a decent gasket as well as a set of new headbolts now these have been used again.

Better get the job done right this time lol...

you don't always need new bolts. you can measure them to see if they are still within spec.

generally 4/5 times.

won't harm though

Ive never skimmed the head on a 200 or used new bolts.
Dont buy the cheap head bolts, have heard of them snapping when torquing up.

do you know the measurements they can be by any chance??

The head has gone for some reason and it's still blowing if nit then it's blowing worse now than what it was...

No idea on the numbers but Im sure 5 mins on google will provide the info.

Did you check the head carefully for straightness and cracks when it was off?
And did you clean up the mating faces of head and block perfectly clean.

If yes to both of those, sounds like a duff gasket.

Couldn't see anything wrong but admittedly was talked into refit without having it skimmed...

I did clean up both faces and had someone help me place the head in place so I don't know. Ill fetch the head from top cat and refit with a new gasket and see how it goes.
