Has anyone fitted or even seen any auxiliary fuel tanks on a Discovery 200/300tdi?

I know the tank is a fair size but I make biodiesel, am planning some long trips in the summer and wont have that much room in the back for extra fuel as there will be five in the car plus our bags

I would have a go at building the tanks myself from stainless but would like a rough plan to follow or even a picture.

Cheers

Ive never seen any myself but I know with my 96 LPG V8 they put the extra LPG tanks just inside the sills (90L i think) so theres plenty of room there to stick a couple, but on the Disco 2 there is no room so they have to replace the actual fuel tank with an LPG tank and then they stick a very little custom tank somewhere underneath with the petrol in it (enough to start it and switch it over to gas). Not much help I know but maybe will give you some ideas, another idea is a roofrack and lots of Jerry cans. Or go one step further and trailer your fuel about for almost unlimited milage!

Most d2 custom tanks fit in the offside quarter under the floor. Opposite side to where the back box is kinda thing. Easy then to share filler neck.

What about rear footwell? Could you lose a little legroom for 60ltrs of fuel? Children In the back and it wouldnt make any difference anyway.

Could manufacture a U shaped tank to take up rear footwell and under front seats and even intrude slightly into front footwell.

Would be a nice thing that! 100 litres easy, nice and low and central too!

On a D1 you could lift the body 50mm and then fit two tanks longitudinaly between the sills and the chassis rails running between the outriggers. You can use the outriggers as mounting brackets too.

An extra 50mm lift would add perhaps 15 litres per side over an above a standard height space. Plus the weight of the fuel would easily counteract the height of the vehicle, to a degree anyway.

There are also some options to the rear quarters. You could cut out the boot floor corners and then build in tanks that go from underneath up into the cabin in the same place as the dickie seats.
