Long shot I know but does anyone have air con kit for a 200tdi disco knocking around?

I’d love to fit it to mine. Know you have to remove dash but my heater motor has gone anyway!

That kit looks good but pricey considering you’d need the compressor and radiator too.

Reckon best option would be to try and find one with air con someone is breaking and strip parts from it probably.

There were very few 200Tdi Disco's with AC, not a common fit as it would have been a very expensive additional extra back in the early 90's.

Most parts you need can come from various other vehicles though, I have seen custom pulleys made for cranks to enable serpentine belts and the use of later and more efficient compressors, the condensors etc, can come from things like Jags, Mercs etc, and you could mix and match to build a system so long as you understand the principles of what you are trying to achieve.

Compressor and radiator might fit, but I reckon the heater box unit thing would be different.

Will one from a 300tdi not fit with a bit of cajoling? Do know the engines are not that alike in layout.

Ok so why is the engine so important?
After all the only item difference is the attachment to an AC equipment vehicles engine of the AC compressor. I expect you know already but the dashboard and heater box is more important, the 200 series used two styles of dash and heater depending on ac equipped or not (same as the early RRs), the 300 series is completely different system from the 200 again two styles of dashboard and heater box.

Discool, you've lost me mate, I only have my Anniversary which came with Aircon so I know it is possible to fit it to a 300tdi.
I thought the 200 tdi had different engine layout as far as belts etc was concerned, but I may be wrong, never looked at them too closely.
I realise now that the dashes are different, so that could be a problem. Any mileage in getting hold of a 200 or a 300 tdi with aircon and just swapping the whole lot over.?

Yeah, ideally someone would be breaking a 200tdi with air con so I could strip all the bits off, also then I’d see how they were originally fitted which would make it easier to fit to mine!

Latest on this- someone near me appears to be breaking a 200tdi with air con, only problem is it’s a V8. Is that likely to cause problems? Is the compressor mounting different? It looks kind of the same…
V8 compressor from one for sale on eBay..

Nope it’s totally different, you would also need the double pulleys and adjuster wheel plus hoses,
The only difference to the dash is the switch gear section, all the rest is the same,
If you want I can post some pictures of the layout,
Unfortunately my dash is now back in after fitting a new heater and I didn’t take any photos of the unit behind where the glove box fits,
