How are your rear seat belts set up? Have you got spreader plates under the wheel arches and a connection through to the rear cross member.

Cheers bud. Dynamat did cost a bomb but hopefully it will be worth it. Panels do certainly sound alot more solid
Seat belts are bolted through to large spreader plates that are on top of the thick reinforcement framework inside the wheel tubs which is then bolted through to the rear cross member. They are also retractable to keep the rear tidy.

Been a while since I updated this thread but I have made loads of progress since the last post.
Altered the td5 centre console to fit the double din pioneer head unit I've bought. It's got apple car play and Android auto which allows the unit to act as a sat nav through google maps. Few pics of how I altered it.
Starting point

Midway through:

Finished after being painted in the same bonatti grey as the bodywork:

Seatbox and floors had the same process of sound proofing having a layer of Dynamat then a layer of foam. For the foot wells I used the bottom section of the rubber matting system I had in before the rebuild. For the seatbox I used some carpet material I picked up at the last malvern land Rover show I went too. Had to get a bit blue Peter with paper templates to cut it and got it but I like the rubber and carpet combination.

Next up was fitting steering guard and first four bumper.

Terrafirma bumpers fitted

Doors built up:

Seal in the sunroof replaced

Roof, doors, rear sides and some other bits fitted. Did take a few pics of the process but they were on my gopro which decided to corrupt the files.

Most of the ally parts were cleaned up with scotch bright and painted in high temp paint. The valve cover was sanded with 1800 grit sand paper and then polished up with a combo of brasso and t cut. The engine block I painted with some Granville satin black cylinder black paint. Comes in a small tin but doesn't take much to get a great finish. Hope that helps!

Got the rear central locking working on the rear door. There is a good thread on here about fitting a hawk central locking kit which I followed for the front doors. The rear latch mechanism on the new tdci rear door I fitted didn't have the link arm for central locking so I had to make one out of an arc rod bent to shape. With the oem pivot and the mounting plate for the actuator it all fit on and worked well.

The little link arm I made slotted into the pocket in the latch mechanism where the oem one was missing.

Mantec wheel carrier fitted

In order to get the wheel carrier to fit and still be able to fit the Terrafirma bumperette I had to chop out a chunk of the bumperette as the use some of the same mounting holes.

Roof had the same sound deadening process as the rest of the panels

Headliner was recovered in the same material that they have in Audi's and bm's and I also upgraded to the newer style interior lights

They are Exmoor trim inward facing seats in the xs half leather spec. They are £150 each but I picked mine up off eBay a bit cheaper than that 2nd hand. Always worth keeping an eye on eBay as my build would have cost twice as much without watching eBay like a hawk.

Used some trim dye to dye the rear interior panels and sun visors black.

Few pics of them before and after fitting

Managed to win the nene overland ex demo Hannibal roof rack on eBay which when delivered was one of the biggest deliveries I've ever received!

It came in white but I had it re-powder coated in semi-gloss black.

Front runner rear ladder fitted and two led work lights mounted to the rack

Rest of the mantec snorkel fitted

Bought a 51.5" led light bar for the front and had to make up some brackets to mount it to the rack

That's it pretty much finished now! MOT is booked for next Wednesday so fingers crossed!

Awesome. Personally, I think that falls in to the 'major life time achievement' category.
Extremely small font needed here (have you had the wheel geometry set up with the laser fandango gear?)

Hi Al, I dont want to hijack Robs thread but i sort of lost interest in it for a long time. Ive rigged up an extractor system with some drainage pipe and a bouncy castle inflater and i have paint being brought over from england with a mate of mine tomorrow so trying to get systems up and running again. Not much work and loads of bodywork just put me on a downer but ill stick pics up on thread when i reboot.

I think the simple answer to your question is that 200tdiRob has had the money available to fund his project sufficiently to compliment his skill and ability. Which we've both complimented him on. I threw a canny bit of money at mine, but probably with less skill and ability as 200tdirob

. I was in a situation to do this cos I'm cracking on a bit and my kids are all up, working and independent. (That's a laugh cos I still fund them far too much

)
If I wasn't at this stage in life I would have had to wrap mine up and do bit at a time.

Cheers for the kind words. The tracking hasn't been done yet as I haven't been able to legally drive it anywhere to have it done yet. Hopefully if all goes well on Wednesday I can book it in Friday to have it done.

As for cost I haven't completely totaled it up yet but it probably sits at around 20K. Which I know sounds a lot but this is something I've wanted to do for years and the whole process has taught me alot so I think it was completely worth it
