My beloved Defender was lifted during last night's windy weather (13th September 2017) from outside our house. Frontrunner 3/4 length roof rack on it, bike rack fitting on towbar, BF Goodrich tyres and alloys with little/no other mods.
Driver side front bumper is slightly bent towards vehicle. Mounting bracket for a bike rack on tow bar. Any sightings much appreciated.

Sorry for your loss mate, bloody horrible!

Just out of interest did you have any external safety features on like a disclok or anything? Thanks J

Nothing external. Just the proximity to the house and alarm/immobiliser. They are what they are. I didn't want to pay the £400/year for a tracker either, given that they're quite easy to block and within hours Landy's often cross the channel or are spread over the UK. Given how slick this operation was, I am suspecting stolen to order. Police are showing interest, but no news yet.

The standard security is hopeless and the immobiliser can be bypassed easily. Trackers are not that expensive. The one l have costs £150 per year and being dual frequency is almost impossible to jam.

Or fit something like the Xeng pedal lock (£170) which means any thief would most likely need a flatbed to steal it.

You can make it harder for the low lifes who steal them.

It's not the only vehicle with poor standard security. Everybody knows about the BMW key cloning and thefts.

very clean looking vehicle

It had been washed that day. It used to get muddy, often enough :).
Really sorry to hear your news. I hope you do get it back. If you get another you can get a tracker from £7 a month. Some people do still get their vehicles back that way. I think tho the most secure method is physically boxing the vehicle in as I believe many of the smarter Landys are lifted on to trucks.
I'm putting your reg in here so if anyone googles it it will come up. Would suggest putting the details on Landywatch too if u haven't already.
