Freelander 1 2004 KV6 weird vacuum hose

Trust me I am. Will strip it down as much as I can. I have the usual leaking thermostat housing issue anyway and will be doing the cam belt so I might just do it all in a oner and see how bad it all is.

Have you done the belts on a KV6 before?

Thermostat is easy, providing you are methodical.

Which has taken me full circle on my thinking about this. I will get the VIN from the engine and trace back to see if it's a NAS or not.

is the hose that actually fits without me buggering about. This is the one I should have ordered and will tomorrow - it's the NAS.

Your KV6 is an EU spec engine. So the NAS pipes won't fit at the throttle body. The TBs are different between the EU and NAS KV6.
Yours should be connected as my original picture, with EU spec pipes. Any other connections or pipe routings are wrong. This could well affect brake performance and engine mixture control.

The breather pipe I picture is 100% correct for my throttle body. It plugs into the rubber section before the metal air intake using a 90' white plastic connector. Your intake (the metal part just behind the induction kit where the jubilee clip slack sticks up a little) has a plug to attach the breather hose. On my engine, you can see in the picture, this is solid metal and not a hole.

The breather is the black pipe coming down the middle of the picture - you can see the splice I had to put in because the EU pipe didn't fit (I've since sealed this correctly).

Other differences are that I have the pencil style coil-cover/sparkplug covers at the front, the wiring loom for the parks and injectors is different and the brake servo is also different.

Still happy to admit that it's an EU spec and someone spent a lot of time and money re-doing the pipes and intake incorrectly - is there any way to 100% tell?

It appears that your V6 is the later EU spec engine. These weren't very common, so aren't seen often. There were some obviously some changes to the pipes, but they should all still function as intended. The large breather connection into the TB has been moved into the induction pipe. I can't see how the small breather can connect to the brake booster though, as available vacuum will be low. More investigation is needed here.

Vehicles from 2003 model year – The vacuum enhancer solenoid valve is no longer fitted to vehicles from 2003
model year onwards. On these vehicles the solenoid valve is removed, but the venturi valve and associated piping is
retained. On this system the vacuum enhancement is still required, but due to the deletion of the air assist injectors,
the vacuum enhancement can be permanently operated.
The vacuum enhancer system increases the relatively low vacuum available from the inlet manifold to increase
braking assistance. The system consists of a venturi valve, a solenoid valve and associated pipes.
The venturi valve is installed in the vacuum pipe between the brake servo and the inlet manifold. An air feed pipe,
from the intake duct upstream of the throttle body via the solenoid valve, is also connected to the venturi valve. Internal
ducts in the venturi valve connect the brake servo and air feed ports to the inlet manifold port. The duct connecting
the air feed port to the inlet manifold port incorporates the venturi. A check valve, integrated into the brake servo port,
prevents the reverse flow of air and fuel vapour to the brake servo.
The solenoid valve controls the air feed to the venturi valve. Operation of the solenoid valve is controlled by the ECM.
To improve engine idle speed refinement, when the gearbox lever is in Park or Neutral, the solenoid valve is closed
and the brake servo senses the vacuum in the inlet manifold via the venturi valve. When the gearbox lever is selected
to positions other than Park or Neutral, the ECM energises the solenoid valve and air from the upstream side of the
throttle body is fed to the venturi valve. The air flows through the venturi valve into the inlet manifold. As the air flows
through the venturi in the venturi valve, it increases in velocity and decreases in pressure, resulting in an increase in
the vacuum sensed by the brake servo. Depending on ambient conditions and"

FYI as you probably already know, the pipe you linked LLH500220 is the one I have on my NAS V6 Freelander and is the larger diameter pipe. it does not match your picture in post 30.

So this may be a stupid question, but I'm at a loss. The red clips that you plug the breather into, what are those called, and does anyone know where I could possibly be able to find the larger breather hose clip? The break servo clip is to small for the larger hose.
 
hello how are you? please clear your doubts. Can I exchange these pipes for silicone tubes? If so, can you tell me what their internal measurement would be? thank you very much
