Morning all. The wifes TD5 started leaking diesel on Sun. Ive checked the pipe from the cap to the tank and its ok. There is fuel around the sub frame and tank area. Any common faults to look for please as she is worried? Thanks in advance.
Many thanks Mark.Mine did the same. turned out to be a fairly common fault, the four plastic fuel pipes that run from the pump to the filter rub on the chassis and start leaking.
Its a fairly simple fix but you (should) drop the tank to do it.

there was an official recall but the replacement pipes still leak, and if your unlucky, you may find, like I did that a JLR dealer had "repaired" one of the pipes with a pipe clamp and a piece of rubber!
Edit here is a link to the recall notice

Thanks very much mate.Pourus fuel filter housing or a damaged o seal in pipe that sprays under pressure. Ethanol in fuel eats rubber seals on older veichles
Would I be able to contact JLR and ask if this has still to be done???Mine did the same. turned out to be a fairly common fault, the four plastic fuel pipes that run from the pump to the filter rub on the chassis and start leaking.

Also see my post on the orange "bladder valve" in the fuel housing that prevents leak back to the tank. You will not find it on any L.R manuals and it is not a Land Rover part. I bet your pipes have been changed as part of a recall already, most were due to H+S concerns. Take the fuel filter housing to bits, see if the orange valve is deformed / open, if it is thats your problem and you need to spend £120 on a new filter housing. Its easier than dropping a tank, takes 5 minutes with a 3/4 spanner. Take all brass flanges to the housing off the orange bit is on the return side ( back left). Easy to do... your Mrs could do it, thats where I would start as if you cannot see diesel leaks chance is pipes are not leaking?? It cured mine despite so called dealers saying pump, injector seals, pipes and all unsundry bollocks they come up with.Pourus fuel filter housing or a damaged o seal in pipe that sprays under pressure.
