2003 td5 auto questions

Have td5 auto for about 7 years. It had the diesel in oil problem and went off to have new head fitted by landy garage, because Mr loves his landy and always kept it well looked after. After it came back from this it was taken up to be undersealed to protect her underskirts lol. Since having it home there are m&s lights come on which mr can do something and they go out, garage diagnostic machine says switch which is clear as mud to me, the diagnostics not done at landy specialist just ordinary garage.
The landy has got 77k on the clock and never been overworked at all but we cant keep paying out because of emotional ties says the nasty wife lol.
Wanted to know a rough estimate of what it would be worth and best place to sell, a general dealer made offer but wanted someone with knowledge to give a clue if that is possible.

Seems ashame to sell it when you could probably fix it easily enough.

Find someone local to you who has a hawkeye / lynx / nanocom, check it and see what it says. But it seems it might be the XYZ switch, do a search on here and you will get a load of hits. Fix it and keep driving it or put it . Even if you put it up for sale you do not want the M&S showing up while it is being test driven.

If you're trying to sell it, this isn't the correct board for that. Oh, yeah. I forgot, you'll need 50 plus "constructive" posts to do that.
If you're asking about the auto box, I'm no auto expert, but the usual switch that gives trouble on the automatic gearbox and often gives rise to the M+S lights is known as the XYZ Switch.

M+s lights show when battery is low on voltage also

M & S lights will show if battery is low, as said. If battery is DEFINITELY ok, then it is the XYZ switch which controls the lights on the autobox selector. The problem with them is water ingress, as the aircon drain on the nearside is directly above this switch, most have re-directed this drain by adding a length of pipe into drain to stop it, and once water gets into the switch it plays up. It can be rebuilt, there is a guide here.

or you can purchase a good used on from Paul at Discovery 2 Parts, near Colchester, Essex, 0120 6211623, a registered trader on www.thed2boysclub.co.uk, who specialises in good tested used D2 parts, or a new one, but buy genuine to be certain it works properly.

Thank you all so much for the advice the switch mentioned above is the one the diagnostic machine at our local garage said. Am passing messages on to mr as he doesnt do computers, well he is nearly 76 so I happy to do it for him. Many thanks again
