2001 hse radio problem

I know there are many similar threads to this one here but I have read them all and still have no answer.

My battery was constantly dieing so I checked on here, removed the rf reliever and now it's fine.

The sat nav has never worked, just a white screen and the radio has no sound. It seems like the volume control doesnt work. CDs play and the radio tunes but no sound comes out.

I disconnected the sat nav but stil no sound.

Anyone any ideas what it could be?

A 2001 Classic?

DSP amp knackered, or link between HU and DSP amp disconnected or faulty.

Remove HU, and check all plugs at rear of unit - one may have worked loose. Remove and replace plugs a few times and see if that fixes matters. It may all appear correct, and may not fix things, but.... try the simple (& free) fixes first...

Thanks will have a look at that. Any idea where I would find the dp amp?

Also when I turn the volume knob or press the buttons on the steering wheel nothing happens on the display.

Ps. No idea what model it is. As its clearly not A classic I apologize for my unknowing ness.

if it's a 2001 its a P38, with the Alpine-headed H/K system - with DSP by the sounds of it.

The system is run by a single amp that lives behind the soundproofing that is behind the subwoofer inside the rear left cover in the boot. Effectively, the HU just acts as a remote control when plugged into a DSP amp as it is the amp itself that controls gain, volume, etc. They are known to fail after some years, giving the symptoms you describe. The failure is usually caused by moisture ingress corroding its internals, however sometimes it is only the connector that corrodes, so sometimes a removal, clean and reconnect cures the issue.... if you're lucky, that is...
