Just testing the water ...
I am retiring at the end of the year, I don't think I will be able to run the P38 on my pension. Seriously considering putting it up for sale, or swap for economical hatchback (were sadder words ever written?) of Focus/Fiesta/Golf/Polo type with cash either way. It's a 4.6 petrol auto, Oxford Blue with Lightstone leather, stainless exhaust, 118k miles, MoT to April 2019. Engine starts first time every time and pulls strongly. Does not overheat or lose coolant. EAS working as it should. A few marks consistent with age and mileage, but overall it's in good condition and looks smart. Interior is clean and fresh. I suspect ashtrays never used. Good service history (12 stamps) and a stack of receipts and bills to show it has been looked after. I bought it in February this year as a long-termer, and spent over £1000 fixing a few issues (new DSP, battery, t/box seal, arb bushes, ABS sensors and full service). It's now running great. For a number of reasons I have brought my retirement forward, and unfortunately 17 mpg doesn't quite fit with my new income!
Overall it owes me about £5000, but I am realistic and would be happy with £3000 ono. I have an eBay ad ready to go, but I am spending a week or two thinking it over. Any interest here would help me decide one way or the other. I'd much prefer the car to go to an enthusiast or forum member if possible.
