Only thing I ever heard about putting bigger wheels on is accelerated wheel bearing wear. The larger circumference generates a greater force at the centre (bearing) when cornering/roundabouts apparently.
I had 18's on an A4 and got the local 'Naaaaaaaa, you don't wanna do that, what you wanna do is.....'
That said, the 18's stayed on and 18 months later, 2 fukked rear wheel bearings!!!!
