2 yellow lines on front and rear axle?

Hi chaps,

Any idea what these yellow lines are for? The pic is of the front axle, but it was the same on the rear, until the paint flaked off!

They are normally white but those are convoy markings used by the mod.
A light underneath shines on the paint so others following can see the vehicle and it doesn't show up from the air but why there's one on the front i have no idea.

looks like somebody were painting the chassis yellow with a house brick and let it dribble on the diff

ive seen it on a few landy's now, i simply bought a can of black paint and painted over it
