2 stroke or not 2 stroke this is the question ?

Good Day Everyone, I have read somewhere maybe on this great forum that adding a "amount" of 2 stroke oil to the diesel tank does it some good ?, my question is can anyone corfim if this is correct or not and if so, how much 2 stroke should be added, interesting !! Regards to all.

Isnt 2 stroke just a type of veg oil so you might as well just use that as its cheaper ????

just dont forget that Td5 is an engine with electronic unit injectors(so called PD/pumpe duse) not with 'simple' fuel injectors like the TDI's, and a two stage high pressure in-tank fuel pump... and afaik it's not healthy to mess with oil in these cos it'll clog everything in short time

2 stroke oil is either mineral or synthetic, Castrol R was veg oil based but most race 2 strokes use synthetic these days, shame cos Castrol R smells fantastic.

I use 2 stroke in my VW T5 1.9 roughly 1/3 of a litre to a tank full (approx £100) and I did use it in my Disco. I couldn't see much difference in the Disco so stopped using it but I'm still using it in my van the reason been that it seems to be working on the turbo viens which used to stick (usually when we had a temp. drop) which would put it in to overboost then in to limp mode. Also it seems to start a lot better. As for less smoke (it doesn't smoke that bad anyway) and more MPG I can't see any difference

Lorry drivers been doing it for donkeys years.

It's important that the oil is Jaso FB spec compliant, low ash, and not fully synthetic - because this does not burn well.

This 2-stroke/diesel blend apparently brings the following benefits.

1. 2-stoke burns better and more cleanly than diesel. This means more complete combustion of your diesel fuel.

2. Helps to initially clean out the engine internals, and keeps them clean.

3. Restores missing lubricants (and more) from low sulphur diesel.

4. The engine runs much more smoothly and is much quieter.

5. Significant reduction in smoke from exhaust (due to better combustion). Applicable for cars with no DPF

6. Keeps the DPF cleaner.

7. Increases the life of the engine, including injectors, fuel pump, etc.

so may stop your rattley lifters.

At 200/250:1 the colour is minimal to say the least but I'd avoid red to be on the safe side

Have used it in my 110 since I got it and get a smidgen under 30 to the gallon with a NAD engine mixed use, not bad.
It has been proven to extend the life of injectors and the injection pump, aid starting and cleans as it goes.
Maybe worth noting the points about the TD5 but am sure you will find some folk using it still.
I use stuff from Wilkinsons, its Low Ash which I reckon from research is the better stuff.

I`m using it after the advice came from a Toyota LC driver. The TD5 runs much smoother and seems to be a bit more torquey.

I have no scientific approvement but smoother was the word my ex GF used without knowing about the 2 stroke oil.

The Torque is equal as after a good 200 mile run on the motorway.

oooops sorry i gor i bit excited when i see the 2stroke thread,
but honestely is thebest thing since sliced bread,
ive always have a bottle in the car, i buy the cheapest £1.99 at halfords, (£1.23 with my trade card)
i use just aorun 50ml to a full tank, and honesly on a long motorway ran have got around 50mpg.
bu apart from the mpg the engine runs much smoother, theses cold morning arent a problem with sluggish and noisy winter rattle,

i've been using 2stroke for nearly 2 years now, and the improvment in driveabilaty is worth every penny,
AND IT DOES BURN CLEANER FACT !!!!
