Hi all

Have searched through the various LEZ discussions to try and get my answers before posting... went to see an ex MOD landy earlier and nearly bought before checking the LEZ online. A week ago when i checked it came up as 'not subject to lez' but today when i checked at the vendors house it said 'not compliant'

of the current landys I am eyeing up, although they are similar, one, and ex mod 90 hard top - is qualified as 'not subject to lez' (reg H227PRX) while the other, an ex mod 110 hard top is qualified as 'subject to lez' (reg C553KER)

Can anyone explain why one would be compliant and the other not?! Very confused. obviously i will call TFL on monday but don't expect to get a clear answer as these vehicles are so niche

Anyone able to clear that one up? desperate to get myself into a 110

Josh

Its basically very simple , if its not a disco freelander or rangie , and its a 110 , 130 or 90
and its diesel its non compliant unless its a station wagon or its very new HTSH

Which just goes to show that the LEZ has nothing to do with cleaning up the atmosphere but everything to do with milking the motorist.

A TD5 Disco is compliant, a TD5 Defender CSW is compliant, but a TD5 Defender non CSW is not even when they all have the same engine and emmission standards. How can they justify differing bodystyles with the same engines being graded differently?

OK all, thanks for your help and insights.

I will call the DVLA tomorrow and try and be nice and see where that gets me.

That's mad.

A whole section on land rovers specifically. So if you have another large 4x4 you're excempt.

UK yes, japanese import, possibly not. Loads of people with imported Surfs / Pajeros / Delicas etc are screwed as well, most of them are registered as '4x4 Light Utility' as it's the closest thing to 4x4 on the import registration forms - where they should be 'Estate' or similar. DVLA send the info to the LEZ who then mark you as non-compliant.

The only way to get DVLA to update the records is with written proof from the manufacturer to prove that your 4x4 isn't a commercial vehicle, which most manufacturers won't do as they are grey imports.. :(

Doesn't it also depend on the year it was first registered? A hardtop 90 would be treated as a LGV (according to flowchart) and if ex-MOD, it would be registered when first used in the public domain?

So... If I bought a 20year old 90 hardtop today from MOD, wouldn't the first reg date be now, ie being after 2002?

Just pondering out loud.

Hey Josh,

What was the outcome of this in the end?
I'm going down a similar path myself and this LEZ stuff is my last hurdle!

Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam - never got anywhere with it and gave up on buying an ex mod for London. Its depressing but also frustrating because I have seen a few about inside the LEZ zone so there is certainly a way of getting round it. Did you buy one in the end?

I think I am going to try and buy a P38 because there are tons around here for pennies.
