2" lift kit help please

hi guys im all new to this landy stuff and am looking into offroading in my new disco, so far i have fitted what im told are good offroad tyres. (see the pic ofthem) im looking into getting a 2"lift kit and i know u guys will prob know more than me and to point me in the right direction, i was going to buy the following

2 inch Lift Kit - Discovery - Range Rover - LR 90 on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 25-Nov-08 16:11:02 GMT)

is this all i will need ? i have read about exteded brake pipes some where, i dont know if they will apply to me. ? also if this kit is crap can you please let me know and point me to a good kit.

i no there is alot to read, im sorry about my lack of knowledge but every1 learns some where lol.

as far as i can see everything under the body looks to be in good working order, no corrosion anywere or anything like that. its just my landy sits really low, like a tired old lady whose just ran 400mile.
 
loosen every thing off when you get it off the deck.Wack on lift kit and make sure you retighten everything back up when its back on the floor.you will need to keep up with joint grease(drive shats etc)it will be fine.If not then the part that fails was gunna anyhow.I use old man emu lift.No worries other than the propshaft likes to be lubed once a month or so.

kinell 370quid for a lift you must have more money than sence:eek:



just lifted mine with spring seat spacers, only cost 150 quid for everything an feels really good on the road, was told that spring an shock lifts are bouncey when you fit them an soon drop after fitting so i went for spacer lift an am so far very happy:D


but it's all down to personal preferance an your wallet at the end of the day:rolleyes:
 
lol. i have no money at present am proper skint at minute so will have to save, can you show me these spacers you got ?? did you buy them online ?? and did you have to change the brake hoses ?

Kit looks pretty good...fairly similar to what I have on mine, bought separatly. Personally though, I would go for some plus 5" braided hoses incase you bitten by the 'lifting bug' made to order by a company called Braided Steel Aerotek www.bsr-aerotek.com

If your Discovery is sitting that low, it sounds as if your springs are getting tired, so you would probably be better off buying new springs, even standard ones, than spacers that still use your knackered ones.

What are you intending to do that needs a lift anyway?

There are lots of people happy to tell you what you need to spend your money on. Far better to go out, carefully, and find out where your vehicle, rather than you skills, is really letting you down and find out what you really need to spend money on.

Unless you are just after the looks.
 
i am after the looks but im also likeing the off roading challenges lol. i did get stuck the otherday (Bottomed out) thats one of the main reasons why i want a lift 2. also looking to get a winch and stuff too soon lol.
 
ok took me a while to get my head around that one lol, all confusing for me but i think i get it now. im only going to be doing the od off roading session at weekends, nothing 2 heavy at all. i think the spacers and springs will be best. i think ;-)
 
as said if your springs are dead why not get new ones.If the shocks are ok then they need not necessairly be changed.The most efficent way for you to sort it is buy a set of just springs and worry about the rest later.It is possible to get away with std shocks with just a spring change and so long as you fit well all will be fine and lift acheived for just the cost of the springs.oh and a few bare knuckles no doubt.:D

lol. new springs and spacers then lol, i just like the sound of spacers haha, i friend is going to have a look at the shocks at the weekend, he knows more than me, i did find a link to some 2" spacers but lost it if anyone knows where to find them please send link lol.
