Hi for those that read my post last night and those that haven't. My 96 dse auto has a tick 2k to 3k rpm on throttle. Quiet off throttle and before that and beyond that its quiet. And not noticeable when its cold. My viscous fan had play so i took it off before drive to workshop 15miles no stopping no roads below 40mph. Sounds mabye exhaust manifold gasket or a pully mabye. Im away to do manifold gasket later on. Thinking mabye even a hydrulic tappet has **** its self. Anyone got any tips or possible things to check out?

Take the serpentine belt off see if it stops. If not take the A/C belt off . At least that will eliminate the rotating bits, you may have picked up some sh1t when you were off road.:)

Theres no a/c belt too worry about lol. Mabye its muck but iv done 130miles since i was off road plus 15 this morning. Was quiet spot on then parked for 3/4 of a hr then within 100 yards this started. Iv looked at the damper pully and thats not tapping or banging. 300mm of water wont have gone into sump and if was water in the oil itd milk up? Are the oil sump pick ups prone to clogging up? I am getting oil to top end Take the filler off its splashing everywhere

Yeah no6 was the culprit was gone facing the bulhead of the motor. The way it was echoing sounded like the bottom end or somthing was away to go through the sump. Bloody thing had me right panicking.
