Hi everyone,

I've just acquired an '89 110 with 113000 Kms on the clock with a 2.5 TD. Drove it approximately 120 Kms to HQ without any problems at all. Noticed as I was coming up the driveway that she lost a little bit of power and when I put the clutch pedal in the engine was revving quite high by itself. Not excessively, but just noticeably higher than normal, and reasonably erractic.

Shut the engine down and restarted, she did the same, but made it up the hill no sweat. When I reached the top she seemed to calm down and idle normally. I started her again this morning without any issues, but she started to idle reasonably high again and again a little erratic. With throttle the engine doesnt miss or skip and the accelerator pedal is returning and she seems to be providing all the power necessary.

I'm awaiting parts to do a basic servicing and am intending to change the timing belt very soon, but has anyone got any thoughts as to what these symptoms could mean? Be nice to know if I need to add parts to my order, shipping from the UK to New Zealand isn't the cheapest! But believe it or not it still works out cheaper than getting them from dealers here.

Thanks,

Chizzle - New Zealand.
