Hi hope you are all well.
I have a 1991 2.5NA diesel 90 ex Mod.
Recently I had slight oil leak from under the car ,maybe few drops after driving the vehicle.
At first I thought it was the crankshaft seal as it was leaking from around the crankshaft. But ok closer exam it looked like blowback from the engine.
I was advised to change the oil cap seal, whilst doing that I notice the oil cap breather hose going to the air filter had a big split.
Coukd this be the cause of the leak ? There’s some oil around the air filter drum but around it is dry.

Appreciate your help

Your last comment suggests you have found the problem. To be sure you need to thoroughly clean the engine and look for the oily bits after a run.

Could be a number of things, but commonly a sign of head gasket starting to blow. Remove rocker cover cap with engine running. If the gasket is on it's way out, vapour will emerge under some pressure, often accompanied by a distinctive chuffing.

Check valve clearances too.

To replace a cork rocker cover seal, remove the cover, clean it thoroughly. Stick a new cork seal to the cover using adhesive, either spray workshop adhesive, or contact adhesive. Replace cover.
