Swiss? Or late emissions control engine. Most have a simple breather to atmosphere. Got any photos, curious!

I'm surprised no one sells a replacement for series landrovers. I'm sure the rubber diaphragm deteriorates above the hot manifold and can cause running issues.
I'll take mine apart and inspect. I've ordered the 3 emissions hoses, im sure mine has been leaking air.

Sure enough the diaphragm has a small tear.

not a fan of that size of jubilee clamp prefer the two wire type the jubilee clamps tend to distort the rubber hoses you can get smaller thinner jubilees that would fit better or the correct sized modern spring tensioned clamps ,be careful when cleaning the spring so as not to stretch it as this will affect it's operation

An update on servicing the 2.25 petrol pressure control valve PCV.
The rubber diaphragms are easily sourced for MG/triumph, they are made in Britain and appear good quality.
To check the valve you can blow down the the top and check for sealing.
One of the two metal pipe brackets was missing and it stops the metal pipe touching the fan pulley.

What does it do? Does it reduce the traditional petrol smell from the engine area in use?

I think the main purpose is to reduce the crank case pressure preventing seals/gasket being damaged, venting it into the carb and reducing emissions. I think a faulty valve can upset the idle and running. There's a tiny bleed hole on the top plate and with all the years of grease built up, I didn't even know it was there.
