For reference, if you want to clean the rust out of the waterways, concentrated Hydrochloride acid removes it a treat. Seal all holes except 1 with duck tape, get some spirit of salt, dilute about 50% with water (acid in to water ALWAYS, and you probably only need a 1/2 pint of diluted mix) and slosh around in waterways for a few minutes. For cast iron, you really need to put some household bleach in afterwards, to neutralise the acid, as you could get some trapped in the pores.
At you own risk, PPE etc. Great for doing petrol tanks (clean with caustic soda solution first) and most other lightly rusted parts. Google "pickling steel" for more info.
