2 1/4 engine swap for gearbox

Just changed my military 2 1/4 series 3 petrol engine for 2.5 n/a So it,s up for graps runs fine ex preserved stock.But im after a swap for a series 3 gearbox (obviously not a shagged one)I've also got a series 2a gearbox thats fine (doesn't jump out of gear or anything) if anyones interested let me know. I live in East Sussex area.

I might take you up on that,i dont know whats involved in sorting that but will find out. Where abouts are you?

why do you want to swap a series 2a box for a series 3 box????

the 2a box is a stronger box than the three so it should be better to put on the n/a than the three

He probley wants syncromech ?
Me i would lern to double declutch.

Yes i can double 'd'clutch boys i drove it for ages like that.Its just when i changed from series 2a engine to series 3 last year the release bearing doesn,t reach the clutch.Theres no probs with the gearbox.At the time someone said weld a collar to the 2a release bearing but sounds a bit of a bodge job to me.

Yes it's about a quater inch gap, you just need a 2A clutch cover plate - it's a standard part readilly available from paddock etc for about £40. It has the required collar on it.

As general rule with series motors the clutch plate should match the gearbox not the engine.

Wot a bugger ive just fitted a new tension plate for a 2.5 n/a cost me 46 quid.So it wouldn,t cause me any probs then?
