1999 Freelander 1 1.8i distributor type cooling fan relay

Can anyone tell me where the cooling fan relay
on my 1999 Freelander 1 is situated?

Engine cooling or passenger cooling??

Engine cooling.

The fan is fed by a relay module which, according to the manual, connects to earth in LH front engine bay. I. E. Passenger side. On my 2002 Td4 the module is a finned box mounted to the fan units.

That is what the manual says, but not on mine. Mine is a 1999 1.8 i with the distributor on the side of the cylinder head, a very early model. There is no finned box or any box mounted on or near the fan unit. When I look in the fuse box there are relays there, but nothing to say what they do.

Use the Rave manual to identify what you have and see what is left?? Someone with a 99 1.8 will be along shortly. Maybe mod the thread title to better define the vehicle and problem?

Its the Workshop Manual produced by Land Rover. You can download it and run it on a Windows PC. Info of downloading it here...

Just checked the Rave manuals. They only have freelander k seried 1.8i from 2001, mine is 1999. I have a 1999 landrover manual but it doesn't mention it.

There are 2 manuals, you have picked up the later one, you want the earlier one that covers the K & L Series up to 2000

There is a section in Rave that has pictures of all the connectors etc - is it not in there?

I can't see it in there, can you?
