I am about to wire up my P38 1997 4.6 HSE towbar just with a 12N socket and thought I would just solder to the wires on the socket behind the rear wee panel but have been told that I need to use a MP3877 7 way bypass relay or I will screw the computer and get fault readings and all sorts of problems. Can you please advise me as I've been given bad advice before from this guy.

Also can I take a feed from my reverse lights to a reversing camera as my dear wife does not seem to be able to use mirror's, "multi task yeah right" lol.

Thanks in advance Don.

I don't know for sure, but I believe there are sockets behind the near side rear lights ready for the trailer wiring to be plugged in, requiring you to fit a genuine wiring loom to the towbar I suppose, costly?

I would think the advice you were given to be near the truth as the BECM senses bulb faults and might not like a change in the wiring.

I bought mine from some chap in Yorkshire via fleabag. It's got the proper connector so it plugs straight into the loom and works a treat. Was only £20 odd. I can't lay my hands on the contact info at the moment, but he was ever so helpful.

Actually there's a new unused genuine one on there for 99p at the moment...
